Singapore Rant: ERP rates cut at 15 gantries and 5 new gantries won’t be switched on


Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates at the newly switched on gantries along the Singapore River Line and Chinatown areas will be cut, starting September 29. Also, of the six new additional gantries planned for November, only one will be turned on.

When the Land Transport Authority (LTA) introduced new gantries along the Singapore River line in July, there was an outcry from a number of Chinatown businesses, who complained of a slump in sales.

The authorities then met with businessmen and said they would push up their quarterly traffic conditions review.Now the authorities said there’s been marked traffic improvements.So they are decreasing the rates at 15 gantries in the CBD—Chinatown—Singapore River line area by a dollar from Monday, bringing the rate to S$1.
